Installation Notes

Read these notes BEFORE installation

  • Tiles must be pulled from all boxes and blended before installation and approved by the client to ensure best result.
  • If installing tiles without grout joints or with 1/16” joints, tiles must be grouted with non-sanded grout to fill any gaps, lippage or small joints that will result from the handmade process. For joints larger than 1/16” sanded grout should be used.
  • Grout joints should be sealed after installation.
  • Unglazed Terracotta Tiles or any exposed terracotta in glazed tiles should be sealed before grouting.
  • For mosaics with concrete backing, apply a thicker coat of thin set to adjust height of each mosaic sheet to decrease lippage. Install mosaics offset and set without a joint, as tight as possible to reduce the appearance of joints between sheets.
  • Lime pops in the surface of tile should be filled with grout during the grouting process.
  • Tile should not be installed in pools, spas or any surface that is continually exposed to water.
  • Tile should not be installed in exterior areas that experience freeze thaw conditions.
